About Us
The Pond Shack opened at the Mendon Greenhouse in the Spring of 2006. The Pond Shack is owned and operated by MetroWest Water Gardens, a company that splashed onto the Greater MetroWest area landscaping scene in April of 2004, offering its customers a variety of landscape contracting services, focusing primarily on the design, creation, installation and maintenance of beautiful water gardens, ponds, waterfalls, water features and eye-catching planting displays.
After spending over 20 years in the high-tech field as a computer architect, programmer and website designer, Tom Frost turned his long-time passion and knowledge for water gardening and landscaping into a new venture and has watched his company grow to reach customers all over Eastern Massachusetts, extending from Boston to Worcester.
"A lot of landscapers put in water gardens and waterfalls but few seem to understand the science behind building an ecosystem so that it stays crystal clear and doesn’t become a maintenance nightmare for the pond owner," says Frost. "It’s not all about constructing a pretty waterfall, filling a liner with water, and throwing some rocks around the edges. You need to factor in the plants, fish, sunlight, water filtration, pond-size and many other variables when designing a water garden that starts beautiful and stays beautiful year round. Through lots of research and ‘hands-on’ experience, we’ve got the background and ‘know-how’ to do it right."
MetroWest Water Gardens is an Aquascape Designs Certified Aquascape Contractor (CAC), a charter member of Aquascape Designs' Water Garden Excellence Program, a Massachusetts Horticulture Society Certified Master Gardener and an active member of several industry related groups and organizations including the North American Water Garden Society Club of Massachusetts and the International Water Garden Society.
